Imphal, July 25 2014 :
Demanding increase of wages, labourers of the Consumers' Affairs Food and Public Distribution remained adamant and asserted that it would continue to go on fast unto death until the demands are fulfilled.
It can be recalled that two days back, the CAF&PD labourers had chained their hands up demanding to increase their wages.
Around ten labourers today enchained their necks on the iron fenced near Kangla and continued the fasting movement.
One of the chained labourers stated that they would not suspend their fast unless the State Government fulfils their demand and might extend the agitation by ending their lives in case the Government fails to implement their needs before the Assembly session ends.
City Police arrived on the spot and broke the chains.
All the ten labourers were then taken away.
Till date, around 30 labourers have been arrested by the City Police in connection to the agitation.
