Imphal, March 11 2015: Demanding re-conduct of the PhD entrance test in Manipuri Department of MU, students under the aegis of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) closed down the varsity's main gate today.

Sarangthem David, president of MUSU said that there were many anomalies in the entrance test conducted by MU authority on Feb 25 and the subsequent selection of 17 PhD candidates of the Manipuri Dept the next day.

He pointed out that a candidate who was short of scoring the cut off mark was placed in the 17th position.

Besides, a fresh result was declared on Feb 28 wherein 16 candidates were declared selected.

There were anomalies in the conduct of the entrance test as well as in the process, he asserted.

David, as such, demanded the MU authority to conduct entrance test afresh in the Manipuri Department.
