Imphal, March 04 2016 : Subsequent upon establishment of NITI Aayog at the Centre, its governing council has set up the Standing Project Monitoring Group (SPMG) for Manipur with the Chief Secretary as chairman. NITI Aayog Governing Council of the State held a meeting on February 8 and the meeting resolved to set up SPMG, informed an official source.

The Planning Director would be the member secretary of SPMG which would have 22 mem- bers in all.

Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Environment and Forest, Planning, Works, IT, RD, IFCD, PHED, Power, MAHUD, Revenue, Transport and Health are members of the group.

Officials of the Ministry of Highways and Road Trans- port, Ministry of Power, BRO, Railways, Power Grid, RIMS and NIT are other members of the group and they represent the Central Government. SPMG would monitor and review infrastructure projects being taken up in the State from time to time, added the source.
