Landowners pulled up for demanding compensation

Imphal, June 22 2016: Landowners were pulled by police for de manding compensation for installation of electric poles, water pipes and stringing of wire on their affected land along the State Highway in Yairipok area on June 16. Affected pattadars today convened a meeting at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai and resolved to ban the construction work unless the authority concerned disburses the compensa- tion.

Some pattadars were pulled up on June 16 for questioning by Thoubal police after a demand was placed before MSPDCL who was supervising the work to provide compensation prior to undertaking the construction/repairing work.

The pattadars, following a complaint to Thoubal police station, were pulled up for questioning.

Condemning the incident, the pattadars have resolved to prohibit the construction work until they have been given their rightful compensation.
