Mob lynches armed looter

Imphal, August 06 2015: One armed looter was lynched by the angry mob while his accomplice managed to escape during the melee.

The incident took place on Wednesday night at Mayang Imphal.

They had opened fire four rounds and hit the owner of the two-wheeler in the abdomen.

Bashir Ahmed (35) of Mayang Imphal Bengum Mayai Leikai was returning home along with his four years old son on a two wheeler.

The armed persons held him at gun point and tried to escape with his two-wheeler.

Ahmed resisted and a scuffle ensued.

He shouted from help and villagers rushed out.

Though one person escaped, the other was lynched there.

He has not been identified as yet.

Police believe that he may be Amir Khan (30) son of Naha Achou of Irong Makha Leikai.

Ahmed is in hospital.

The body has been deposited in the morgue.

Efforts are on to arrest the absconding accomplice.
