Gold biscuits worth Rs 4 lakh seized

Imphal, August 26 2015: Troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Sita road junction and apprehended one illegal gold smuggler on August 25 .

According to PRO HQ IGAR (South), during frisking and checking one Maruti van and eight gold biscuits weighing approximately 1336 grams which worth Rs 39,97,317 were recovered.

The illegal items were concealed in the water pump motor of the van.

One driving license, two SBI ATM cards, and an Amway Business Owner Card were recovered from the possession of the gold smuggler.

The apprehended along with the recovered items were handed over to the Customs Department, Moreh.
