Imphal, March 14 2016: Members of Ramgailong Youth Club (RYC), Langol Laimanai joined fighting wild fire yesterday from 2 pm to 6 pm, which originated from Lanthungching village cemetery side.

Around 60 youths were involved in the fire fighting, which was so tense that the flames rose up to about 2-3 meters high and many got hurt by flame, heat etc, informed a press release issued by the president of RYC.

The fire had burnt down more than 20 hectares of forest areas and could have burnt down the whole hills if timely intervention was not taken.

RYC has appealed to the Forest Department to look into the matter and take up plantation project along with the local people for green and clean Langol.

It further appealed to all not to burn forest and if anybody is found doing so, stern action will be taken.
