Imphal, August 04 2015:
The All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association has set a deadline of 48 hours for the Government to take up befitting action against all the police personnel who used brute force against girl students at Old Secretariat yesterday.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, the association's secretary L Joy said that befitting action should be taken up against the police personnel apart from suspending them.
He condemned in the strongest time the act of pulling young girls by the hair and other excesses committed by police.
The association is all prepared to launch different modes of agitation in association with school authorities and guardians.
Notably, police resorted to brute force when a group of students mostly girls tried to storm Education Minister M Okendro's office at Secretariat North Block yesterday as a part of the ongoing mass movement for implementation of ILPS or a similar mechanism in Manipur.
Joy said that a joint meeting of private schools would be held on August 8 at GM Hall in order to take a collective decision on the ongoing movement for enactment of a legislation similar to ILPS.
