Imphal, February 01 2016: Pointing out that 8-Wokotphai DCC under Sadar Hills ADC has been lying vacant after elected Member Haokholun expired on July 18 last year, the NPF Manipur State unit has urged Governor V Shanmuganathan to advise the State Government to conduct by-election to 8-Wokotphai DCC.

In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, NPF Manipur State unit said that as per the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council (Election of Members) Rules 2009 Section 110 (ii), by-election to fill up a vacant seat should be held within a period of six months since the particular seat became vacant.
