Imphal, July 30 2015:
Following transfer of a doctor from Urban Health Centre, Singjamei, Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) patients enlisted at the health centre have been facing a precarious situation.
According to a statement issued by the United For Better Living, a common platform of around 50 OST patients enlisted at the health centre, Dr Rebika was in charge of OST.
However, since her transfer, no other doctor has taken her place regarding counselling of patients and administration of drugs.
Even though some doctors would like to take charge of OST, they are unable to step in as they have not been trained on the particular field.
They appealed to the authority concerned to hold back the transfer of Dr Rebika until a substitute doctor is available.
They have submitted a representation to the Health Director to this effect.
