ATDUM to stage rally against rape

Imphal, July 23 2014: The All Tribal Disable Union, Manipur (ATDUM) in a press conference today announced that the union would stage a rally in Imphal on July 30 to protest the rape of a 13-year-old student of Government Ideal Blind School.

ATDUM president-in-charge Letminthang Haokip said that the Government ought to have given more severe punishment to the accused.

Mention may be made that the accused, Him Bahadur Thapa, has been put under suspension by the Government.

Haokip demanded the service termination of the accused along with the hostel superintendent and Head Mistress of the school.

Haokip, demanding trial of the accused, further informed that the rally is part of their protest to deliver justice to the rape survivor.
