Farmers' Field Day
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KCK), Hengbung, Senapati organised a "Farmers' Field day" on maize crop at Mayangkhang village today.
Altogether, 30 farmers participated in the programme.
Dr Telem Ratan Singh, SMS (PBG), Kangjam Homen Singh, farm manager and Athokpam Brojendro Singh, PA (Agroforestry) spoke on seed production technology, importance of maize and other related topics.
Group discussion and interaction session were also held.
Country-made liquor seized
Mayai Kaba Chinjak Thingba Apunba Nupi Lup, Bishnupur on Thursday seized 50 litres of country-made liquor, 60 cans of chewing tobacco (Khaini) and 10 cans of Zarda from Keinou Thongthak Maning Leikai.
The seized items were later set on fire by volunteers of the lup.
IMA team visits Moreh
A team of International Manipuri Mothers' Association, Imphal, led by its president Khuman Leima took out on an inspection drive to Moreh today to assess the situation, a statement informed.
The visiting team also met leaders of the Meetei Council, Moreh and Hill Tribals Council where the sudden violent confrontation between communities were discussed.
The associations pledged to maintain peace amongst communities, it said.
Lt Gen LN Singh
M Asnikumar Singh, State general secretary, BJP, on behalf of the party, has conveyed heartiest congratulations to LN Singh on being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in the Indian army.
In a congratulatory message, Asnikumar expressed hope that Lt Gen LN Singh will continue to serve with full dedication and honour in the supreme interest of the Nation.
Kisan Sammelan
Krishi Vigyan Kendra KVK, Ukhrul and ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre organized one day Kisan Sammelan for the farmers of Ukhrul today.
Over 40 farmers of Ukhrul attended the programme.
A discussion programme was held.
Agricultural input like sprayers, seeds, Jalkhum sheets were distributed to the farmers.
Tml ADC
The Committee for Formation of ADC Tamenglong sub-mitted an ultimatum to the Governor yesterday to install the Tamenglong ADC by August 21 .
The committee warned that intense agitation including picketing of Government offices and stopping of national projects would be launched across Tamenglong district in case the Government fails to meet the deadline.
The committee also reminded that the ADC election was held on June 1 and the results were declared on June 10.Elected ADC Members were sworn in on July 13 .
Curfew relaxed
Indefinite curfew clamped at Moreh since 11 am of August 18 was relaxed from 6 am to 6 pm today.
There was no report of any untoward incident during the day when curfew was relaxed.
Even though curfew was enforced in the evening, Chandel DC Robert Kshetri-mayum made an assessment of the properties destroyed during the violent confrontation of August 18 together with leaders of different communities.
Suspected Bangladeshis held
Altogether six suspected Bangladeshis who do not speak Hindi were rounded up by a group of people and handed over to police together with one 'agent' who brought them to Manipur.
The suspected Bangladeshis and their 'agent' were rounded up at Chingmeirong as they disembarked from an inter-State bus.
The agent/guide has been identified as one Majam Ali from Assam.
