Imphal, August 19 2015:
The Kukis and the Meiteis were the only two communities in Manipur who had fought imperialist British by sacri-ficing many lives to retain sovereignty.
As such, a prior consultation or agreement with these two communities by the Govt at the highest level is mandatorily required before finalisation of agreement with the NSCN-IM on any issue concerning Manipur.
This was stated by the Kuki Inpi in an open memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday.
Prior to finalisation of agreement between the Govt and the NSCN-IM, there must be complete restoration of normalcy and a proper enquiry into the guilt of the NSCN-IM be initiated, the Kuki Inpi demanded.
The Govt should manda-torily take into consideration the socio-political history of Manipur before awarding any special socio-economic and political privileges on communal line to any community in Manipur.
The Govt should ensure that no socio-economic and political injustice is done to any community in Manipur.
The independence of the country from foreign rule should not result in undue advantage to any community, it added.
