UHM launched for Imphal West

Imphal, September 03 2014: District Health Mission Society Imphal West has commenced preparation of ground works for Urban Health Mission from today.

A launching function was held at Thangmeiband Thingel Maru with Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykishan gracing it as chief guest.

IMC Ward No 2 Counseller Th Punachandra, Ward No 3 Counseller H Nutanchandra, Ward No 3 Counseller Thambaljao Phamei and NUHM SHS Manipur State Nodal Officer Dr Manikanta also attended the function as guests of honour.

In her keynote address, District Mission Director/CMO, DHMS Imphal West, Dr S Bimolakumari said that like in other parts of the country, National Health Mission was implemented in the State from October 2006 sans Urban Health Mission.

However, the Centre had approved implementation of Urban Health Mission under National Health Mission from the fiscal year 2013-14 in Thoubal, Imphal West and Imphal East districts.

For the first time in the State, 1st Phase of UHM has been launched in Ward No 1,2,3,4,5,24 and 25 of Imphal West district, she added.

Kh Joykishan while speaking at the function said that UHM would benefit BPL families.

The programme is being implemented to enhance health condition, he added.
