Class for Khongjom Parba under Guru-Shishya Parampara Scheme begins at Tripura

Imphal, December 31 2018: Classes for Khongjom Parba and Pung organized by North East Zonal Cultural Centre, Dimapur under Guru-Shishya Parampara Scheme began at Meitei village Gouranagar in Khowai district, Tripura on December 30 to promote folk culture sponsored by Ministry of Culture, Govt of India.

The class will be held for one year while renowned Guru Ningombam Bir Singh attended the opening day of the class.

Four students namely N Rajashree, Nongrakpam Anita, Th Bijaya and N Rahul will attend the classes to learn Khongjom Parba and Pung for one year.

It may be mentioned that folk Kongjom Parba has disappeared from Tripura and the programme is initiated to revive folk culture in Tripura.
