Pakans are Kuki

Imphal, July 28 2014 : In view of the general conception that the Pakans are Nagas, the Pakan Reunification Army has in a press statement made the following declaration on public interest for clarification and acknowledgement by the general public.

That the Pakans is a combination of some sub tribes such as Aimol, Anal, Lamkings, Moyon, Monshang, Tarao, Chothe etc, who were and shall always be a part of the KUKI nation.

There have been several stories and folktales which clearly show that the Pakans are Kukis and not Nagas as claimed by the Naga community, it said.

The Genealogy, custom and culture, traditions, dresses, languages and many other items clearly prove that Pakan belongs to the Kuki community.

It had been a fact that due to strong influence by the Tangkhuls of Manipur and the NSCN-IM, these original Kukis were deemed as Nagas without any base, it added.

Henceforth, declaration is hereby made through this local newspapers that the Pakans are Kukis and not Nagas and shall never be a part of the Naga Community in future.

The Pakans will always be known as Kukis and shall always be faithful and loyal in being a Kuki, it asserted.
