Imphal, June 28 2016: Maintaining that ITI campus Takyel it is not the suitable place for opening Manipur Technical University, Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) has urged the Government to open the varsity at a suitable location. MSF general secretary Romio Keisham said that ITI Takyel was established in 1959 at the present site. Many students including those from poor family back- ground had got jobs after getting training from the institute, he said. However, the Government had recently decided to shift ITI from the present campus without giving any information to the Principal and authority concerned, Romio said. Saying that the present campus is still facing infrastructure inadequacy, Romio questioned whether the Government is trying to abolish the institute by shifting the institute to another place. Although, MSF welcomes the decision to establish Manipur Technical University, the student body would never allow to shift ITI from Takyel, he cautioned.
