AMRDPWA condemns assault

Imphal, June 24 2016 : The All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers' Welfare Association has strongly condemned the alleged assault on its member by three persons on June 22. According to a statement issued by the AMRDPWA, a lady from Keishampat Thiyam Leikai engaged a rickshaw puller from Keishampat Lairembi Mamang to Keishampat Thiyam Leikai on June 22. After a verbal duel between the rickshaw puller and the lady on reaching the destination, a man who identified himself as a human rights activist, along with two others assaulted the rickshaw puller.

Strongly condemning the incident, the AMRDPWA also denounced the manner in which a 'human rights activist' thrashed innocent rickshaw puller against all norms of human rights.

It urged the authority concerned to take befitting action against the human right activist and the lady at the earliest.
