Imphal, July 23 2014:
All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has submitted a memorandum to Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshwar demanding filling up backlog posts by holding a special recruitment drive in accordance with the reservation policy.
Speaking to reporters at their Nagaram office yesterday, ATSUM general secretary Vareiyo Shatsang alleged that some people are making efforts to gain back door entry in Grade-IV posts of the Assembly Secretariat.
Saying that the student's body had submitted memorandum to JNIMS Director recently, he said that similar demands would be made to heads of other Departments as per understanding reached between Chief Minister O Ibobi and ATSUM on November 25 last year.
The general secretary also demanded that the recruitment process of Grade-IV employees in the Assembly Secretariat be nullified.
Out of the total staff strength of 316, only 19 employees belong to ST, he added.
As such, ATSUM is demanding holding of a special recruitment drive for ST candidates, he added.
