Imphal, November 22 2011:
Although Manipur has a total area of around 56,000 hectares of land where fish rearing could be taken up, fish production comes from only around 18,500 hectare and around 38,000 hectares are lying in waste, Director of Fisheries Department K Saratchandra has disclosed.
He was speaking at the concluding function of the 5-day long intensive training programme for fish farmers organized under the aegis of by District Fisheries Officer, Imphal East at MBC Youth Hall today.
