No fund to take Irom Sharmila to Delhi

Imphal, December 08 2012: With no funds released by the State Finance Department for arrangement to take Irom Chanu Sharmila to the Patiala House Court, the Iron Lady of Manipur, who has been on fast for more than 12 years now demanding repeal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 from Manipur, is likely to face contempt of Court.

According to a highly placed source, the Patiala house Court had issued a Warrant of Production to the State Government instructing to bring Sharmila on December 11, 2012 for a pending case in connection with her earlier fast at Jantar-Mantar, Delhi.

Accordingly, JMIC, Imphal East too had also granted approval for taking Sharmila to Delhi on the condition that she should be brought back by December 15 .
