Imphal, August 31 2015: The Kuki Inpi Manipur has declared that it will oppose any Acts/Laws which will affect the interest of tribals in general and Kukis in particular.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur, in a press statement signed by Doukhomang Touthang, information and publicity secretary said the Kuki Nampi Kihoukhomna (meeting) held at Haipi from August 26 to 29 under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Manipur made public the "Haipi Declaration" .

According to the declaration, any attempt by the Government of Manipur to enact new laws or pass new Acts which shall directly or indirectly affect the interest of the tribals in general and the Kukis in particular would not be entertained.

As such, extension of Manipur Land Revenue & Land Reforms Act, 1960, and other similar Acts in the hill areas shall be opposed 'tooth and nail', it said.
