Imphal, May 24 2018: The Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur has extended support to the bandh called by the Loktak Downstream Affected Peoples' Welfare Association on May 28 and 29 .

Impact Assessment, Environment Impact Assessment, Environment Clearance and PIB has cleared the construction of Loktak Downstream Power Project and "No Objection Certificate"has been givenbythe Chairmen/landowners of all affected villages.

This project is to generate power and to develop the more backward and remote regions of Manipur, but the project is yet to take off despite the co-operation extended the local people, said the student body.

ZSU urged the authorities concerned to immediately start the project and negotiate the issues and bring an amicable solution at the earliest.
