Imphal, January 15 2019:
Migratory birds found at Loktak Lake during winter were counted at 50 places today.
The bird count was carried out by Forest Department's Wildlife Wing and the Indian Bird Conservation Network in association with local clubs.
The depth of the water level of Loktak Lake is 1.5 m lower this year as compared to previous year and the number and varieties of migratory birds seen this year are greater, said IBCN State Coordinator RK Birjit.
Notably, it was reported that the number and varieties of migratory birds seen last year were lesser.
