Dredging of canal commences

Thoubal, August 11 2021: With the support of social worker Konsam Michael of Thoubal Mela-ground, local farmers on Wednesday began dredging of the Thoubal Sabaltongba Salam to Moijing Leingoijin Khundon section of Thoubal Canal that supplies water fr,om Thoubal Multipurpose Project.

One of the farmers participating in the dredging of the approximately 5 km long canal said that the canal remained choked due to overgrowing of weeds and bush plants as it has not been cleansed for a long time.

Seeing the problems faced by the farmers due to clogging of the canal, Michael provided two excavators for dredging the canal, he added.
