Imphal, October 04 2015: Based on a specific intelligence input regarding smuggling of illegal wildlife products, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) established a vehicle check post at Khudengthabi and apprehended an individual along with a turtle yesterday.

He has been identified as Inaotomba (31) s/o Khundrakpam Rajen of Moreh Ward No 7 .

He was travelling in a Maruti van (MN-05H-5540) .

During the frisking and checking, one turtle weighing around 1.198 kg, worth Rs 20,000 was recovered from his possession, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .

The apprehendee along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Forest Department.
