Kanggui, February 02 2014: A committee christened Gunhom River Protection Committee has been formed to protect and safeguard the river flowing along Gunhom (between Taphou Kuki to Luwangsanggol-Kanglatongbi) .

Sonkhomang, chief of Luwangsanggol and Nehkam Kipgen were respectively elected chairman and general secretary of the Committee formed on January 25 while Keithelmanbi village chairman Tongpao and Phailen village head Henpao would be the vice chairman and joint secretary respectively.

Chalbung chief Henkhokai, Kamlen of Sapormeina, Nehtinthang of N Songlung, Phaileng chief Haominthang, Phoibi chief Seiboi, Kamlet - chief of Gunphaijang and Tinsei - chief of L Gunphai were elected as members of the committee.

Committee general secretary Nehkam Kipgen urged the general public to extend fullest cooperation to the committee's aim for protection, safety and development of the river.
