Imphal, October 31 2015 : Social Activist O Rajen Singh of Thangga has been conferred with the Social Activist Award under Maja Koene Award, 2015 for his awareness building programmes on the injustice committed by the State Government upon fishermen of Loktak lake.

The Maja Koene awards are jointly instituted by the Centre for Experiencing Socio- cultural Interaction (CESCI), Switzerland, CESCI, India and Ekta Parishad, India in memory of late Maja Koene.

The award honours outstanding performance of social activists and journalists who have done significant work in the field of awareness building in order to remove injustice and poverty.

O Rajen shares the award with three other social activists for North East India.
