AR celebrates 182nd raising day

Shillong, March 24 2017: The Assam Rifles celebrated its 182nd Raising Day on Friday through a solemn Ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the Directorate General of Assam Rifles, Laitkor, Shillong.

The programme commenced with Wreath Laying Ceremony, wherein the Director General of Assam Rifles Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan and all Officers of the Headquarters paid homage to the valiant martyrs at the War Memorial.

Raised in 1835, with just 750 Combatants, as the Cachar Levy, the Assam Rifles Force has metamorphosed into 46 Battalions and today is the oldest Paramilitary Force.

The Assam Rifles also has the distinction of being the highest decorated Force in the Nation.
