Imphal, September 10 2018: Under the aegis of the United Committee Manipur (UCM), sit-in-protests were staged today at Top Khongnang Makhong, Top Khunou and Moirangkampu Sajeb Makha Leikai against the Government of India's plan to extend Article 371A to the State or any other administrative arrangement which can challenge the integrity of Manipur.

UCM president Sunil Karam and IPR secretary BM Yaima Shah spoke at the protest sites.

The protesters expressed strong objection to the plan to extend Article 371A to Manipur as a part of the final settlement between the Government of India and NSCN-IM as laid down in a report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs.

They shouted slogans like "Integrity of Manipur and sanctity of its territorial boundary are non-negotiable", "We condemn sectarian policies of the Government of India", "Long live Manipur" etc.
