Imphal, July 10 2014: A rescued Monitor Lizard has been handed over to Deputy Conservator of Forest (Park and Sanctuary) at Sanjenthong today.

The endangered lizard species was rescued by one Yumnam Shyam s/o Mani of Thinungei in Bishnupur district.

Shyam came to Imphal with the members of Pole Star Guardian Association, Thinungei and handed over the animal to the Deputy Conservator of Forest.

The animal which is protected by the law under Schedule-I of Wildlife Protection Act would be kept in Manipur Zoological Garden.
