Farmers urge adequate water for Thoubal Canal

Thoubal, February 05 2025: Farmers have urged authorities concerned to release water through the Thoubal Canal under Thoubal Multipurpose Project to facilitate the farmers start preparation for paddy plantation.

As per a release by Thoubal Apunba Loumi Lup secretary S Noren, farmers of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai, Shellou Lamyai, Kundo Pat, Nongangkhong, Ningombam, Sabaltongba, etc., are planning early preparation of the paddy held to compensate for loss suffered due to flooding last year.

As such, they appealed to the authorities to release more water in the canal compared to present volume of water flowing in it.
