Imphal, November 02 2013 : MLA Dr Ngairangbam Bijoy who has been appointed new Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board was felicitated at Ima Nong-maileimai complex, Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai this afternoon.

Dr Ng Bijoy, Pangambam Narahari and Khagokpam Tomba were seated on the dais as presidium members.

Dr Bijoy said that functions and activities of MPCB is very important both for health and mitigation of ecological imbalance.

Any effort to check air pollution, water pollution, soil degradation and noise pollution needs public support.

Bijoy said that vehicle emission test would be launched at oil pumps very soon for issuing pollution free licences to vehicles which qualify the test and these licences would be valid for six months.

Pledging to take up certain steps in order to reduce the level of pollution in Naga Nullah, Nambul river and Waishel Maril, the MPCB Chairman informed the gathering that an annual calendar for the board's planned activities would be formulated.
