Centre for Social Development (CSD) has urged the State Govt to implement the Manipur State Action Plan on Climate Change in a people-friendly and eco-friendly manner.
Addressing a press meet today at Manipur Press Club, project manager of CSD, Soraisam Babycha said that the Manipur State Action Plan on Climate Change, with eight missions, has not been implemented although the same was adopted in 2013 .
The Govt of Manipur also constituted three committees under MSAPC viz, State level Advisory Committee on Climate Change under the chairmanship of the CM; State level Steering Committee on Climate Change under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary and Sectoral Working Group also under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Babycha said.
Asserting that climate change will affect all people without any discrimination on caste, race or religion, the CSD also urged the State to formulate a long term policy to address the impending crisis.
Babycha also urged the Govt to bring up the issue of climate change in the ongoing State Assembly session.
