Imphal, July 24 2014: Reiterating the demands made by the Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution Labour Welfare Association (CAF& PD), a hunger strike was staged at Ghari Makha Leikai by the labourers with chained hands at the middle of Tiddim road.

The hunger strike started yesterday in a very different manner with 10 labourers chained to the iron rim of the fly over bridge which resulted in arresting the protesters by the police.

The protest held today is the continuation of yesterday hunger strike with the demands to increase the wages of the labourers.

Later, the protesters were taken away by the police in a truck.
