Imphal, May 24 2012: The Imphal East district police announced to conduct vigorous checks on the use of tinted vehicle glass to prevent commission of crime.

According to a statement issued by the SP of Imphal East, the drive against the use of black filmed glasses on vehicles is initiated at the backdrop of the fact that most of the crimes relating to kidnappings, extortions etc are committed in vehicles having tinted glass.

Stating that the use of tinted glasses are restricted under Section 109 of MV Act, 1988 and Rules 100 (2) of the CMV Act, 1988, the police statement warned that any violator would be punished as per law.

Informing the public that checks would be conducted at various intersections of the roads and bylanes, the police statement also urged the public to extend cooperation towards the drive.
