Tamenglong, October 13 2015:
Migratory bird Amur falcons, locally known as 'akoipuina' or 'kahoipuina' are expected to arrive in Tamenglong in the next few days.
Considered as the God's messenger by the forefathers, Amur falcons were not killed in olden days as they bring message of good year and fruitful crops.
To protect the migratory birds from hunting or slaughtering during the roosting period which usually lasts upto 4 weeks, awareness programmes have been organised in various places of the district under the aegis of the Divisional Forest Officer, Western Forest Division, Tamenglong.
