Imphal, August 10, 2012: As pre-emptive measures to ensure smooth conduct of the forthcoming Independence Day celebration State security forces have intensified frisking and search operations.

While security teams are being deployed at strategic locations to foil subversive activities by insurgent groups cordon and search operations are being carried out at different locations in the last few days.

As a part of the security measures, police launched search operation at Khoyathong Polem Leikai areas, under Thangmeiband assembly constituency, in the early hours today.

Even though 55 persons were picked up during the operation due to suspicion, all have been released after verification, said a senior police officer.
