Imphal, August 09 2022: Governor La Ganesan has extended his greetings to the people of the State for 'Raksha Bandhan' which falls on August 11.Raksha Bandhan is observed on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of shraavana.

The expression Raksha Bandhan literally means 'the bond of protection, obligation or care', said the Governor in his message.

The Governor said this festival will help to strengthen the bond of love among brothers and sisters in the country.

Among women and men who are not blood relatives, there is also a transformed tradition of voluntary kin relations, achieved through the tying of rakhi which have cut across caste and class lines, added the message.
