Poppy plantations destroyed at Chandel district

Imphal, December 08 2024: Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the villagers of Saibol Joupi, TM Dingpi, and T Bollon, destroyed approximately two square kilometers of poppy cultivation in Chandel district, said a statement issued by IGAR (South) .

The statement, however, didn't mention when the poppy plantations was destroyed.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote community health and societal well-being, said Assam Rifles and added that the operation was followed by awareness programmes to educate the locals about the detrimental effects of poppy cultivation.

The Assam Rifles thanked the villagers for lending a hand in destroying poppy cultivations.
