MU joins pro-ILPS bandwagon

Imphal, August 04 2015: Manipur University VC Prof HNK Sarma along with the University Registrar, teaching and non-teaching staff and students staged a sit-in-protest demanding implementation of ILPS at the gate of the varsity from 11 am to 1 pm today.

The protest was jointly organised by the University authority and Manipur University Students' Union.

Later, the protesters took out a rally from University gate to Kakwa Boroimakhong.

The demonstrators formed human chain by blocking the highway and raised several slogans demanding punishment against personnel involved in Robinhood's killing, implementation of ILP, etc.

The demonstrators also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to Sapam Robinhood and others who sustained injuries in the ILPS movement.

After they returned to the University gate, they shouted slogans like 'Implement ILPS in the State', 'Punish the police personnel responsible for Robinhood's death' and 'We condemn thrashing of students' .
