Army saves snake bite victim

Imphal, June 03 2011:
Oinam Basan Singh (25) son of Oinam Jadumani Singh, a resident of Keibul Sagram Awang was brought by villagers to Unit Medical Inspection Room of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles with a complaint of being bitten by a poisonous snake in his left leg yesterday.
He was immediately resuscitated with life saving drugs and Anti Snake Veno.
Oinam was kept under observation continuously by the Medical Officer with the help of a cardio respiratory monitor till the time his condition stabilized.
The timely medical attention given to the patient by the Army Medical Officer saved his life.
However, for specialised treatment and further observation, the individual has been referred to RIMS, Imphal, a PIB statement said.
