Imphal, December 01, 2012: The Gauhati High Court, Guwahati has instructed the Registrar of the Imphal Bench of the Court to enforce 'dismiss on default' to various cases if the lawyers of the Bench fail to return to their normal duties by December 3, a reliable source has said.

It may be mentioned that the lawyers of the Imphal Bench of Gauhati High Court under the banner of High Court Bar Association have been abstaining from normal duties since Nov 8 demanding appointment of Manipuri natives as Judges in setting up of a separate High Court of the State.

The source said, no case could be proceeded since November 8 as no lawyer turned up at the Imphal Bench although the Judges were there.

As such, the cases might be dismissed on default if the lawyers fail to return to their normal duties, the source added.

Meanwhile, information received from the High Court Bar Association said that the lawyers would hold a meeting on November 3 to decide whether to continue the stir or suspend.
