Imphal, November 28:
The Board of Secondary Education Manipur, BSEM and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur may be forced to reschedule their annual calendars, even to the extent of changing examination schedules, if the ongoing strike of government employees does not end soon, according to senior officials of these two apex examination bodies.
It may be mentioned that government school and college teachers, under the banner of the Federation of Elementary to College Teachers Association, have been on strike since the second week of this month to support the JAC (AMGEO and AMTUC).
Functioning of government educational institutes in particular has been paralyzed as a result.
Speaking to IFP, controller of examinations, BSEM, L Budhachandra, said the examinations and other formalities will be as per decided annual calendars only if the ongoing strike does not affect the academic schedule.
The forms and criteria of the BSEM have already been issued to various schools and the last date of submission of final assessments is fixed as December 27, he said, but added that there have no submissions so far.
Altogether 581 schools are affiliated to the BSEM as of last year.
The controller of examinations, Council of Higher Secondary Schools, Tomchou Singh, sought the co-operation of parents and students to ensure that examinations are conducted on schedule.
He cautioned that there can not be much change in the schedule for the higher secondary examinations, as this will have to be conducted in time for the national level engineering and medical examinations etc.
