NIA Court says yes to video

The Special Court NIA Manipur on Monday allowed the application to forward to it the viral video of a Kuki militant claiming to have carried out the attack on a CRPF post and burnt down houses on November 11, 2024 at Jakuradhor Karong under Borobekra Police Station in Jiribam district.
The application was filed under 105 BNSS by the NIA to allow forwarding of the videography downloaded through open source to the Special Court NIA Manipur.
Special PP of NIA submitted that during the investigation of the case, it came to light that a viral YouTube video had been circulating in which one Kuki militant called "Tiger", commander of Kuki National Front-P (KNF-P) claimed that he and his men carried out the attack on November 11, 2024 at Jakuradhor Karong.
Special PP of NIA further submitted that the video was downloaded in the presence of two independent witnesses for the purpose of investigation and copied to a pen drive.
The pen drive was then packed and sealed in an envelope.
It was also submitted that as mandated under section 105 of BNSS, the said pen drive was forwarded to this Court.
On perusal of the application along with the relevant documents, the Court allowed the NIA prayer and the submission of the pen drive was taken on record.
The pen drive was then handed back to the NIA for further investigation.
It is worth noting that in compliance of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India order dated November 13, NIA HeadQuarter registered a case after the Central Government received information that on November 11 the CRPF post (A-Coy 20 Battalion CRPF) located at Jakuradhor Karong and Borobekra police station Jiribam district were attacked by some armed militants at around 2:30 pm and the security forces retaliated.
During the attack, one CRPF constable sustained a bullet injury and was evacuated to Silchar for medical treatment.
After 50-60 minutes of exchange of firing, the situation was brought under control.
After the firing ceased, reinforcement teams consisting of Assam Rifle, CRPF and civil police arrived at the spot and thoroughly searched the area.
During the search, 10 dead bodies of unidentified armed militants were found and arms and ammunition were recovered.
These included 3 AK Assault Rifle with a magazine each, 4 Self Loading Rifle along with 5 magazines, 2 INSAS Rifle with 1 magazine, 1 Rocket- Propelled Grenade, 1 Pump Action gun, 18 live rounds of AK ammunition, 58 live rounds of SLR ammunition, 7 bullet proof helmet, 4 walkie talkie sets and 5 mobile handsets.
During the investigation of the case, NIA along with forensic experts from Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Guwahati visited the site at Jakuradhor Karong and collected forensic evidence.
