Foundation stone for power sub-stations laid

Power Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh on Thursday laid a foundation stone to construct 33/11 KV substations at Tusom, Chingai, Somdal, Kachai and Sinakeithei during a function held at Sinakeithei, Ukhrul, virtually.
The programme was organized by Manipur State Power Company Limited as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration.
The Minister also inaugurated one Government guest house at Sinakeithei which was constructed by the Public Works Department.
Addressing the gathering, Biswajit stated that the five sub-stations will start operating by 2022.The Government is successful in bridging the gap between the hill and valley, he claimed.
He highlighted various developmental programmes taken up by the incumbent Government like Go to Hill, Go to Village Saubhagya, PMAY(G) and others.
Maintaining that power is key to industrialization and the Government is committed to provide uninterrupted power supply to the people, the Minister asserted developing the border areas is imperative to take Manipur to greater heights.
Delivering the keynote address, Managing Director of MSPCL N Sarat Singh stated that the five sub-stations will be constructed simultaneously at a cost of around Rs 60 crore.
Various changes are taking place in the last 4 and half years in the power sector N Sarat said and urged the power consumers to clear their bills on time.
Power sub-station at Tusom will also give reliable power supply to the surrounding villages such as Wahong, Challow, Kongai, Razia Khullen, Razai Khunou etc while the station at Chingai will provide power to Kuingai, Challou, Poi, Huishu, Kamasom Phungrei, Kalhang, Khuirei, Marem, Marangphung, Phungcham through a network of 11 KV line.
Similarly, sub-station at Somdal, Kachai and Sinakeithei will also supply electricity to its surrounding villages, he added.
The function was also attended by Dr Shailesh Kumar Chourasia, Power Secretary, Ng Subhachandra Singh, Managing Director MSPDCL, T Rabindrakumar Singh, Chief Engineer (Building) PWD, officials of both MSPCL, MSPDCL and members of Sinakeithei village authority.
