Pot-lannaba held

As part of the Mera Houchongba festival, exchange of pleasantries (pot lannaba) between the hills and plain dwellers was held today at Lainingthou Sanamahi Laishang, Haying Khongbal Tolong yumpham near 1st Bn Manipur Rifles.
The traditional event was attended by Home Minister Gaikhangam and Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) president ex-MLA L Jayentakumar as the chief guest and president respectively while Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, former Minister RV Minthing and Moirang AC MLA M Prithiviraj graced the occasion as the guests of honour.
In his brief address, Gaikhangam expressed that inspite of its simplicity Ching-Tam Pot Lannaba signifies the age-old bond between the hills and valley people and provides an opportunity to the people to renew their friendship.
Apart from the religious fervour and aspect of the celebration such an event is bound to strengthen the age-old ties between the indigenous communities, said the Minister while stating that pledges need to be renewed for emotional integrity, peace and development of Manipur.
Besides performing religious rites of different indigenous communities, presentation of cultural items marked the annual celebration.
