AMMSO alleged irregularities in appointment of MTU VC

Imphal, December 29 2021: The All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) has expressed exasperation regarding the appointment of Dr T Bhaneshwar as VG of Manipur Technical University (MTU) on grounds that he does not fulfill the criteria to be a VC.

In a statement issued today, AMMSO said as per UGC regulation dated July 18, 2018, a person has to have an experience of no less than 10 years as a professor to be eligible for appointment as VC.

However, it has come to the knowledge of AMMSO that the post held by Dr T Bhaneshwar does not qualify him to be appointed as VC of MTU, added the statement.

AMMSO also added that the PhD degree obtained by Dr T Bhaneshwar is from History Department in Manipur University and his area of research was 'Traditional Housing and Architecture of Manipur', which also does not make him qualified even for appointment as Professor in an Engineering college.

Neither does he has produced any PhD scholar nor has he published 8 numbers of publication in UGC/AICTE approved journals.

AMMSO condemned his appointment as VC as he is not even qualify to be principal of a diploma institute.

AMMSO also decried irregularities in the recruitment process of MTU as.

a number of non-locals were included in the eligible list despite the recruitment notice clearly mentioning that non-locals can not apply for the vacancies.
