Imphal, September 29 2011: The Sharkaphung/Sikibung Village Authority has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister regarding survey and compensation process of land/people affected by the Thoubal Multipurpose Dam.

Whereas paddy fields belonging to Shangkai and Thawai villages which have been affected by the dam have been surveyed and due compensation paid, the survey process left out Sikibung village.

Saying that it has learnt of the Government's plan to inaugurate the dam by March 2012, the village authority asked how could the Government plan to inaugurate the dam without completing the survey and compensation process.

It also sought immediate intervention of the Chief Minister to redress grievances of all the affected villagers.
