Imphal, June 29 2016:
BJP Mani-pur Pradesh has demanded the State Government to produce a white paper on construction of Old Cachar Road (Tongjei Maril) by Keystone Infra Private Limited.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP Manipur Pradesh executive member Adim Pamei said that a team of the party recently inspected the road construction work in the wake of the Keystone Infra Private Limited's claim that the project has been completed by 90 per cent.
The party's inspection team found that not even one Kilometre of the road has been black topped.
Apart from compromising the qualitative aspect, the work of cutting hill slopes/sides has been completed only for 60 Kms, Adim Pamei said.
The Government should come out with a white paper regarding such details as tender value, amounts with- drawn, pending liabilities and names of sub-contractors.
If the Government fails to bring out a white paper, the party would write to the relevant Union Ministries so as to take up necessary action.
Moreover, neither BJP nor the people of Nungba would remain silent if the Government fails to bring out a white paper at the earliest, he added.
It was reported that Bishnupur-Joujangtek section (20 Kms) is being constructed by ABCI Company under the sponsorship of Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Construction work of the Joujangtek-Rengpang section (69.53 Kms) is funded by NEC and it is being executed by Hyderabad based Keystone Infra Pvt Ltd.
The total estimated cost of the road project is Rs 92.25 crore and around Rs 43 crore has been spent so far.
